Both the Nanaimo Timbermen and Coquitlam Adanacs were heavily involved in moving and picking up big name players at the BCJALL trade deadline of June 30th. The Timbermen traded their number one and two scorers in Cody Bremner and Colton Clark (who went to New West), and their third year goalie Zack Boychuk (to Delta); the Adanacs on the other hand used the deadline to pick up some big name players from the Burnaby Lakers including Nick Bilic, Riley Loewen, and 6’7” goalie Brodie MacDonald.
Even with a secured playoff spot the Timbermen had quite the final stretch of the regular season playing three games in four nights, with all of those games played against the hottest teams in the league at the moment (Delta, New West, and Coquitlam).

Perhaps riding some leftover momentum from their home win against the ‘Bellies on Sunday, the Timbermen were first on the scoresheet Tuesday night in Coquitlam, with Kyle Dexter beating Brodie MacDonald just two minutes into the game. The A’s didn’t take long to heat up as new member Riley Loewen made the most of his first game in the purple and gold and scored the home teams’ first goal.
The T-Men ended the opening period with two power play goals from Glenn Foley to stay within two goals of the home team, but things would unravel for the visitors in the second and they wouldn’t score a goal on MacDonald for about thirty minutes which gave Coquitlam ample opportunity to build on their lead. Seven unanswered goals later, the A’s were coasting into the final twenty minutes with a nine goal lead.
The scoring from the A’s eased up in the final period, but even with the T-Men outscoring Coquitlam 3-2 in the third, the work done in the second was more than enough to solidify the game by a score of 15-7.

As usual, Coquitlam dispersed the ball well between their roster with all but three Adanacs getting on the scoresheet. The ex-Lakers/new-Adanacs did well as Loewen registered five points (2goals, 3assists), Nick Bilic assisted on Tor Reinhodt’s short-handed goal in the first period, and although he struggled a bit in the third period goaltender Brodie MacDonald made 25 saves and had one assist in the winning effort. Due to injury troubles Jon Thomson dressed for just his second game of the season and put up two goals and one assist for the Adanacs.
With his three goals scored on the man advantage, Glenn Foley was only bested by Kyle Hofer on the Timbermen scoresheet who had four assists on the night. Intermediate Timbermen call-up Corey Shires scored his first goal in Junior ‘A’, and first year intermediate goaltender Peter Dubenski stood up well relieving Scott Bannister four minutes into the second period, making 31 saves and allowing seven goals against by the highest scoring team in the BCJALL.
The Adanacs round out the BCJALL regular season by hosting the New Westminster Salmonbellies Wednesday night in a game that won’t mean anything in the standings, but if the previous games in the season series are any indication it should mean something on the floor.
