The top two spots in the BCJALL have been claimed for quite some time between Coquitlam and New Westminster and at the opposite end of the table the Saints and Thunder round out the standings; the middle of the pack has been a tight race for the majority of the season, and with the regular season coming to an end this week it’s getting even tighter.
VICTORIA 10- 6 POCO
Both the Shamrocks and Saints would play their last game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon in Poco, and as far as the standings were concerned Victoria would need a win to keep their spot in third place (assuming Delta would win in Burnaby later on). The ‘Rocks did just that, winning the game by four goals.
Victoria’s last goal was arguably their most impressive, as goaltender Adam Hickey got the credit and became the first goaltender to register a goal this season. With two minutes left in the game the Saints pulled goalie Mike Lowe to the bench for the extra attacker, and as Hickey made a save at the other end of the floor he decided to take a shot at the empty net; Lowe left the bench too early and threw up his stick which stopped the scoring attempt and according to CLA rules results in an automatic goal. Playing his last game of Junior ‘A’ ball Lowe faced 59 Shamrock shots, and after a shaky start finished the game strong for the Saints. BCJALL points leader Casey Jackson registered just one assist in the game which keeps him in top spot with 88 for now, with New West’s Tyler Digby being the only player with potential to catch up and take the title away.

Recently aquired Delta tender Zach Boychuk looks on as Chase Clark tries unsuccessfully to score for Burnaby who are held to only 3 goals. |

DELTA 15-3 BURNABY
Also playing their final games of the regular season the Islanders would pay a visit to the Lakers for the late game on Sunday. Riding a four game winning streak and taking advantage of their third-year imports brought in at trade deadline the Islanders are looking stronger than ever and have exploded offensively, scoring 51 goals in their last three games. Zack Boychuk registered two assists and had a great night between the iron for Delta, not letting a Burnaby shot past him until midway through the second period and by that time his teammates had built up a seven goal lead on the Lakers.
With his two goals and two helpers Mike Mallory came within one point of tying Jackson for the lead in league scoring, but did end up matching him for the most goals scored (40). With the win Delta secures fourth spot and will end up facing the Lakers in the first round of playoffs unless the Timbermen win against the Adanacs on Tuesday night.

Logan Schuss of Delta moves in on Burnaby's second goalie of the game, Devon Winters, on his way to a big seven point night. |

One of three goals scored on the night by Burnaby comes to the credit of Jackson Dekker as he fends off Delta's Anthony Brito. |

NANAIMO 8-7 NEW WESTMINSTER
Playing three games in four days the Timbermen certainly have the roughest final stretch of the regular season as they hosted the ‘Bellies before heading back to the mainland for their final game against Coquitlam on Tuesday.
Nanaimo traded their top two players in Cody Bremner and Colton Clark to the ‘Bellies at trade deadline in order to bring in some future draft picks and younger players. On Sunday night both players suited up for their new team against their old team and combined for five points altogether (3 goals 2 assists). The T-Men started strong jumping ahead 3-1 the first but took their foot off the gas in the middle of the game which allowed the ‘Bellies to stage their comeback. Scoring with under a minute left in the game, Jay Card would get New West within one goal on a setup from both the ex-Timbermen players, but Joey Fendick’s goal halfway through the third would be credited as the game winner and Nanaimo would be only the second team to beat the ‘Bellies in the 2010 season so far.
